God Opened A Door In Brazil - And Then He Built A Church
Many of you know that One Vision International started a church plant in the city of Parnaíba, Piauí, Brazil, this past February, 2026. After many months of prayer and seeking the Lord’s wisdom, He provided a local house for us to start meeting in.
Meeting regularly, the house church grew to a little more than 20 people in just four weeks. Realizing we would not be able to continue in the house much longer, we began praying and seeking the Lord again for guidance and a place to rent in the meantime. Unfortunately, there was not much available that would meet our growing needs.
But the Lord had different plans for us and this small church plant.
In May of this year, just on a whim, we started asking around about prices of land in the area. We were just in the early stages of seeking and praying when someone came to us early one morning and said that the Lord had placed it on their heart to give us an investment payment on a church plant. Three days later, we received another financial commitment.
The Lord does not always surprise us with something like this, especially so quickly.
Following the Lord’s lead, we found a piece of property to purchase and officially broke ground in the first week of June. Without advertising much about what we were doing, the Lord continued to provide for the financial needs of the church plant over the next three weeks. We are so very thankful for the prayers and financial support received over the past few months designated for this church.
Over the past 22 years, One Vision International has supported the building of 26 church buildings in Brazil, mostly small, four-walled chapel buildings. But for this one, we felt the Lord was calling us to do something different...to build a building that would not only be a four-walled chapel, but would also have a few classrooms, two full bathrooms, a kitchen, and a gathering area.
Our idea is to use this space as a One Vision Brazil “hub” for training, events, and even to potentially host small teams who would be able to join us in ministry work.
The area is a mixture of lower to middle class homes without an evangelical church. The town of Parnaíba is growing outward, and this is an area where many people are moving to. One Vision Brazil owns the land and building.
We broke ground in early June. Knowing that we had a medical team scheduled to arrive on July 18th, we started praying that the Lord would allow us to complete as much of the building as possible, with the hopes of using the new space as a place where the U.S. doctors could hold clinics.
While the church was not 100% completed, with some fully plastered walls and a working kitchen, we were able to get the building to a point where we could pause construction for three working days to hold medical clinics.
It was a wonderful experience to see our small body of believers come together to help pick up trash in the community and walk from door to door, sharing the news about a medical team coming to serve them.
Because of our medical team’s efforts, almost 200 people from the area walked through the doors of our almost-completed new church building—not only receiving care for their immediate physical needs, but also hearing the Gospel shared in a simple, loving manner.
The people in the community were introduced to our missionaries and church Pastor in a way that shows that we are not only making an investment in their physical well-being, but, more importantly, in their spiritual lives and their walk with Christ.
The vast majority are unchurched and have not been looking for a church to become involved with. Please pray for those who are now much more interested in who One Vision is and what we do.
Pray that we may be a light that shines and directs them to the One who died for our many sins and gives eternal life.
Services are now being held in our new building, and four new families from the community are attending. This is going to be one of One Vision’s larger focuses moving forward. We plan to focus on weekly children’s and youth activities and sharing the basics of what it means to be a believer.
We are anticipating quicker growth over the next few months. If you feel led to financially support these efforts, we would welcome that with open arms. You would be a part of life changing work in a part of the world that is hungry for Jesus.
More workers will be needed in the future to support this growing ministry. More teams will need to be sent down to support evangelistic activities and medical clinics, and many people will need to be discipled on an ongoing basis.
